Many people react with surprise when they learn that I lived in Brooklyn for three years, and then moved out of the city. Particularly down here in Louisiana, I’m met with some confusion. The next question is always, “Will you ever move back?” The truth is that I don’t know. New York City and I did not have a very happy breakup, and it’s going to take some time before that lingering resentment dissipates.
Also, when reflecting on life in New York City, I’ve come to the realization that there are two ways of “living” in the Big Apple.
